Gaming Coach

Gaming Coach guide

Gaming Coach helps you organize post-session observations and practice. You supply the match statistics, footage and interpretation. The app calculates ratios, organizes review themes and builds practice prompts tied to those notes. It does not watch the video for you or infer mistakes from a score.

1. Record a session

Choose New session and enter the title, game and date. Use consistent game and mode names so your comparisons stay meaningful. Map, result, statistics and notes are optional. The workspace is designed around match statistics common to round-based shooters; record only fields whose definitions fit your game.

Leave unknown statistics blank. Zero means you recorded a zero. Headshots means headshot kills, so it cannot exceed kills. Shots hit cannot exceed shots fired. Rounds played must be at least one if entered. Use the notes to document your source, game mode, measurement limits or anything that makes this session hard to compare.

Explore a sample adds an explicitly fictional session, including invented statistics and tagged review moments. Its game is named Example Arena (fictional), so it does not mix with real games in comparisons. You can delete the sample when you are done.

2. Review a local recording

Choose an MP4 or WebM recording you have permission to use. The browser plays the local file; it is not uploaded. Use the native playback controls, a slower speed or Mark this moment to capture the current playhead. You can also add observations without a video.

Each moment can contain a start time, optional end time, round number, review theme, observed evidence and possible next step. Enter seconds, mm:ss or hh:mm:ss. An end time must follow the start. Keep observations separate from assumptions about why an outcome occurred. Record strengths with Keep doing this as well as improvement themes.

Use Go to moment to seek, or Play moment for a range that pauses at its end. A moment outside the loaded recording is rejected at playback. The theme filter changes only the view; reports and CSV exports include every moment.

Recordings are limited to 2 GB, six hours and 33 megapixels. Codec support depends on your browser. Video bytes are not saved in the workspace. After a reload or session switch, reselect the file. The app compares its name, size, modification time and duration with the saved reference, then asks before replacing a different reference. This metadata check is not a cryptographic identity check or proof of authenticity. Check that the footage and timestamps correspond.

3. Understand the statistics

MeasureCalculationWhen unavailable
K/DKills divided by deathsA value is missing, or deaths are zero

Headshot rateHeadshot kills divided by killsA value is missing, or kills are zero

The Progress view compares the latest five entered sessions with the preceding five for the selected game and mode, ignoring case. Dates determine order; same-date sessions use their entry order. Each ratio uses summed complete pairs of inputs, rather than averaging individual percentages. Coverage tells you how many sessions supplied both values. Partial records are not silently treated as zero.

Win rate uses only known outcomes. Draws are known outcomes but are not wins. Small samples, different opponents, map choices, roles and recording methods can change these values. A higher ratio alone does not prove improvement or explain a result. No official rating, hidden rank or alternative skill score is calculated.

4. Turn review notes into practice

Create practice plan selects up to three improvement themes by the number of moments you tagged. Ties use the theme label's alphabetical order. Strengths remain in your review but do not generate corrective practice. No improvement notes means no generated plan.

Each task contains a practice prompt, a suggested measurement and the exact observations that prompted it. The prompts are general review exercises authored for this tool, not automatically verified coaching judgments. Choose an exercise that makes sense for your game and adapt your own next step in the source notes before making a new plan.

Plans preserve a frozen copy of the source session. Editing or deleting the original does not silently rewrite a plan; the interface labels that change. A practice log records date, minutes, optional repetitions, observed results and limitations. A log records activity, not proof that performance improved.

5. Import, export and back up

Download the CSV template for the exact column order. It contains one fictional example row to replace with your own records. Import up to 60 sessions from a UTF-8 CSV of at most 500 KB. Quoted commas and line breaks are supported. Outcomes must be win, loss, draw or unknown; an empty outcome becomes unknown. Numeric blanks remain unknown. Imported rows create sessions, not review moments or video references.

The importer validates every row before offering a confirmation. Exact duplicates of the recorded title, game, date, mode, map, outcome, statistics and notes are skipped, preserving existing moments. A CSV with a changed field creates a new record; it does not update the existing session.

Export moments as CSV, or use a session or plan report for JSON and browser printing. JSON reports are for sharing; only a full workspace backup can be restored. The workspace backup contains all sessions, moments, frozen plan snapshots and practice logs, but no videos. Spreadsheet-oriented exports prefix formula-like text with an apostrophe.

Restoring checks the entire backup, then asks before replacing the current workspace. Invalid or cancelled imports preserve current records. Storage conflicts and failures leave the memory copy exportable while the tab stays open. Back up before reloading or clearing site data.

Current boundaries

The free preview allows 60 sessions, 120 moments per session, 120 practice plans, 240 measurement protocols and 1,000 practice logs. Backups are limited to 8 MB. It has no official game-history connection, replay/demo decoder, automatic video interpretation, live overlay, cloud sharing, product account or payment flow. Direct email/password and Google accounts, provider integrations and purchases remain future release work. It is independent of game publishers and makes no affiliation or approved-integration claim.

Measure one practice task

In Practice, choose Define measurement. Describe exactly what counts as a success, the exercise and fixed conditions, and a target percentage. Each definition stays fixed; create another if conditions or the target change. Record successful attempts and total attempts under that definition. Zero successes is valid; a notes-only log has no measured counts.

Rates divide summed successes by summed attempts. Latest-five and preceding-five windows use practice dates, then entry order on the same date. Other protocols and unmeasured logs are excluded. Archive a measurement to stop using it without losing its history. These self-recorded results do not establish game rank, improvement or causation.

Practice CSV, plan JSON/PDF and backups include the criteria, conditions and evidence references. Version-1 backups upgrade without inventing measurements; new version-2 backups require the updated app.
